Volunteer: Good In the Hood (Food shelf)

You can make a difference in the lives of young people by volunteering to work 
with youth in your community! You will help our staff team with program interacting with community members and helping with distribution of food to ensure a positive, nurturing environment.

1. Volunteer Summary:
The Child Care Program Volunteer will help our Child Care team provide quality care to children in a positive, nurturing environment.

2. Volunteer General Responsibilities:
• Greet children and parents making them feel welcome
• Play and initiate age-appropriate games and activities with children
• Help us maintain a safe play environment
• Communicate courteously with team members, children, and parents
• Help us ensure that program supplies are organized at the end of day/shift
• Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch and Association

3. Volunteer Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum age of 16
• Volunteer application
• Face-to-face interview
• Criminal Background Check
• Reference Check
• Signed Code of Conduct
• Completion of online New Volunteer Orientation (NVO)

4. Physical Demands:
Ability to lead and participate in physical activities that may include but are
not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching,
running, throwing and kicking.

5. Additional Notes:
This volunteer opportunity represents the primary needs identified at this time but is not intended to be all-inclusive. The volunteer will also be responsible for taking direction from the Program supervisor, Branch Executive or other designated YMCA team member.
