1. Volunteer Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Volunteer Swim Lesson Assistant. You will play a vital role in supporting our swim instructors and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our participants during swim lessons. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the community by helping individuals of all ages learn essential swimming skills and build confidence in the water.
2. Volunteer General Responsibilities:
- Assist swim instructors in organizing and conducting swim lessons according to established curriculum and safety guidelines.
- Provide hands-on support to participants during swim activities, including guiding them through drills, offering encouragement, and ensuring proper technique.
- Help set up and maintain equipment before, during, and after swim lessons.
- Monitor participants' progress and behavior, intervening as needed to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with swim instructors, participants, and their guardians to address any concerns or questions.
- Promote water safety awareness and reinforce important swimming rules and procedures.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as participant registration, attendance tracking, and program evaluation as needed.
3. Qualifications/Requirements:
- Passion for water safety and working with people of all ages and skill levels.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to fulfilling volunteer responsibilities.
- Prior experience with swim instruction or lifeguarding (preferred but not required).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
4. Time Commitment: Volunteers are typically needed for a minimum of one to two hours per week, depending on the availability of the volunteer and the swim lesson schedule. However, we welcome volunteers who can commit to more extensive involvement.
