1. Opportunity Summary: We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Nutrition Center Support. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the operations and activities of our nutrition center, which aims to provide education, resources, meals and support to youth and families. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the well-being of our community by promoting nutrition education and access to healthy food options.
2. General Responsibilities:
- Participate in preparing and serving meals.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the nutrition center, including stocking shelves, organizing inventory, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Creating a welcoming environment, providing information about available services and resources as needed.
- Participate in the preparation and distribution of educational materials on topics such as healthy eating, meal planning, and nutritional guidelines.
- Support nutrition center staff in conducting workshops, cooking demonstrations, and other educational events.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the nutrition center and the delivery of high-quality services.
3. Qualifications/Requirements:
- Passion for promoting nutrition education and healthy eating habits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Compassionate and non-judgmental attitude toward individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to fulfilling volunteer responsibilities.
- Previous experience in nutrition education, community outreach, or customer service is desirable but not required.
4. Time Commitment: Volunteers are typically needed for a minimum of two to four hours per week, depending on the availability of the volunteer and the operational needs of the nutrition center. However, we welcome volunteers who can commit to more extensive involvement.
