1. Volunteer Summary:
You can make a big difference at the YMCA! You will help our staff interact with
members and provide a safe and clean facility, for all. You will assist our custodial
team with cleanliness of our fitness center and other program areas, while creating
a positive environment of friendliness. This consists of excellent customer service
by smiling at everyone you encounter and ensuring members and guests are having
fun. It also includes being part of a positive atmosphere that promotes member and
program participant safety and satisfaction in accordance with YMCA policies and
procedures.
2. Volunteer General Responsibilities:
• Assist the custodial team with facility cleanliness in short, three-hour shifts
on weekdays
• Engage in member and guest conversations through fun and positive
interactions
• Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch and association
3. Volunteer Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum age of 15
• Good communication skills and patience when working around members and
guests working out
• Dedicated to member safety and the Y mission and philosophy
• Volunteer application
• Face-to-face interview
• Criminal background check
• Reference Check
• Signed code of conduct
• Completion of online New Volunteer Orientation (NVO)
4. Physical Demands:
• Must be physically capable to kneel and clean treadmills, ellipticals and other
machines as necessary
5. Additional Notes:
This volunteer opportunity represents the primary needs identified at this time but
is not intended to be all-inclusive. The volunteer will also be responsible for taking
direction from the Program Director, Branch Executive or other designated YMCA
team member.
