The Junior Counselor program at Day Camp Manitou is a volunteer program for individuals ages 14-15 who are interested in working with kids. Volunteers are an integral part of the Day Camp Manitou program. As a volunteer, you will learn valuable leadership and job skills and have the opportunity to be part of a great staff!
Junior Counselors practice leadership skills by assisting a staff member with a group of 12 campers ages 4-10 each week. Volunteers will learn to work with a variety of campers, problem solve, and learn what it means to be a camp counselor.
Volunteering as a Junior Counselor is a great way to learn important job skills and gain independence. The application process is designed for volunteers to learn how to write a resume, cover letter, and ask for references. In the application process, volunteers also learn to schedule and complete an interview. Once hired, Junior Counselors will attend one day of training and practice important job skills such as scheduling, goal setting, reflecting, and independence.
