1. Volunteer Summary:
The Y’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Y offers a range of health, wellness, educational and social activities for older adults. The ForeverWell Special Events Volunteer will aid in building the ForeverWell community through welcoming new members, building relationships and leading/assisting with outreach events. A Special Events Volunteer displays leadership, good relationships, a collaborative spirit and a positive outlook.
2. Volunteer General Responsibilities:
The Forest Lake Senior Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024 between 9am-1pm. Volunteers are needed to do the following tasks: assist with setup of gym, assist vendors with bringing items to their assigned table; provide parking guidance and room guidance inside the building; welcome participants and answer questions; make and prepare coffee; give tours and ForeverWell Orientations; talk to vendors and assure their needs are taken care of; assist with take-down of gym and assist vendors with packing items and transport to their vehicles. Shifts: 8am-10am, 10am-12noon, 12noon-2pm.
The ForeverWell Special Events Volunteer is responsible for their assigned activity with minimal level of supervision and acts as a liaison between the group activity and FW Coordinator. Duties may include representing the ForeverWell program to the community, answering questions, going off site to community events, greeting community members, promotion of FW activities, material collation, room and table set-up and ensure of safety protocols. The overall goal of the position is to create awareness in the community of health and wellness opportunities for senior adults through the ForeverWell program at the YMCA-Forest Lake.
- Essential Functions:
Represents the Y mission to build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
- Demonstrate the YMCA core values: honesty, responsibility, caring, and respect at all times.
- Inspires and supports older adult members ages 55 to 105 + in the community.
- Maintains positive relationships with community, partners, members, Y employees and supervisor.
- Communicates in a timely manner with members, Y employees and supervisor.
- Attends volunteer training meetings/performance reviews.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions and share new and better ways to engage members.
- Ensures safety protocols are followed and privacy and confidentiality of members.
- Maintains knowledge and if necessary, carries out emergency action plan.
- Communicates questions or reports incidents to supervisor in timely way.
- For outdoor activities and off site activities, collaborates additional planning in collaboration with FW supervisor.
- If relevant, takes attendance at beginning of event or activity. Turns attendance sheet to supervisor or Member Services at completion of activity.

- Completion of online New Volunteer Orientation (NVO)
