Fewer than 4,000 people have ever climbed Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth at 29,029 feet and the most epic climb in the world. To simulate a mini-version of the Everest climb, the YMCA has re-imagined it's former ski hill climb and has created a new hill climb challenge at two of its camps. At the newly designed ForEverest Camp Edition, climbers will start their journey at basecamp and climb the equivalent of Mt. Everest by climbing and descending circuits on the camp's hill. Additionally, ForEverest Camp Edition will allow families to explore two beautiful camp spaces providing an opportunity for a self-guided experience with a variety of activity stations, including climbing a rock wall, making common hiking snacks, planting seeds, and taking a self-guided scavenger hunt hike to explore each of our camp spaces.
The ForEverest Camp Edition experience will be open from noon to 4pm. Additionally, for people that love a good challenging work out/experience, there is the Ultra Climber option. These participants take on the Everest Summit challenge to hike the equivalent of Base Camp to the Summit. This option gives them 12 hours to complete the feat, 8am to 8pm, and also allows them to enjoy the full Camp Edition features!
SHIFT DETAILS: Course volunteer shifts will meet at YMCA Camp St. Croix. Volunteers helping on the course could support at a variety of stations throughout the course like helping participants plant seeds, cheering them on as they go through the different activities, and more! Please let us know if you have any concerns with certain tasks (example: heavy lifting, physical excursion).
Snacks and water will be available for volunteers; please bring a water bottle.
